So, are you say Harrying comes out of the closet (his fantasy about
the wizard world that explains and justifies what happens in the
muggle world)? If so, then perhaps - but it's not nearly as
satisfying as his death (in terms of the story, i mean).

That Hermione is capable of collusion with authority figures is
evident from PoA - the time turner thing. And someone with her
knowledge could be quite dangerous - how much does she know, etc. But
for sure, given the stated prejudices of the DE, Hermione is being
sensible in siding unequivocally with the strongest proponent of the
open Hogwarts.
One of the things that sat with me the whole time I read OOP was that
Harry had distanced himself from his friends, and his friends had
distanced themselves from him - not totally by choice, mind, but
sometimes so. And setting him up as half a DADA (DA) kinda
exacerbated the rift, though I don't question DA's importance. Harry
is still set apart, and will be, until the downfall of Voldemort -
and of course, probably afterwards too. The H.I.P. ship hopes that
there is at least a moment of, yunno, closeness before that ending, a
short, sharp joining, that echoes. Or something like that.
