Of course he's never had ambition. He's 15 in OOP! I had absolutley
no ambition at 15, other than to keep up with current fads.
Seriously. It wasn't until I was about 16 or 17 and *had* to start
thinking about life away from school that I starting having
ambition. I'm not even sure you'd call it ambition, I merely started
thinking about what I was going to do with my life. I was still
pretty ambiguous about it until I got to college nad had to pin
something down.
At least Harry and Co have *started* to think about it. Percy and
the twins are the only ones who really seem to have what I would
term 'ambition.' Even Hermione doesn't have a definite plan yet.
Harry's goal *at the moment* is to rid the world of Voldemort, but
once that's accomplished (and I firmly believe it will be), why
should he stop living his life? There will always be bad wizards,
just like there will always be bad Muggles. The WW isn't going to be
wonderful once Voldy's out of power. There were bad wizards before
him and there will be bad wizards after him. I think an Auror is the
perfect job for Harry. He'll be helping the WW stay safe. Face it,
he's got the know how to vanquish the bad guys at 15. Imagine after
a few years of Auror training at the MoM.
