cruciatus curse; however, the same scene you referred to in PoA came
to mind today when Harry wanted to harm Sirius when he thought he had
betrayed his parents. Granted, violence in not okay; and while I was
initially surprised to see that Harry had muttered "crucio", I do see
now that I should have somewhat expected it. He was in one of his so-called "reckless rages". Yes, Bella deserved it, but I am sort of
relieved that it didn't quite work for Harry. I think it says something
about who he is on the inside even though his anger was eating away at
him at that moment. >>>>>
I wasn't surprised to see Harry do this, considering how angry he
was, and knowing what she had also done to the Longbottoms. I think
it might even be good that he tried it, but its a very good thing it
didn't work. I can imagine that if he had succeeded he would not
have lifted the curse, but let his hate and anger grow as she lay
there screaming. When Dumbledore turned up a few minutes later he
would have had a hard time getting Harry to let go and Harry
would've been worse of for having used the curse. I'm reminded of
Return of the Jedi where the emperor is egging Luke on to kill which
would ultimately lead to his turning to the dark side, and feel it
would be similar for Harry.
On a similar note I wonder if Umbridge had it in her to crucio
Harry. I was a tad dissapointed in that scene that Hermione stepped
in before she had a chance, as then she could have been hauled off
to Azkaban.
