This brings back to my mind a question that I've often had, but
not while in front of a computer.  :)  Do we know anything about
the DADA teachers before Harry started at Hogwarts?  Was it
always a doomed position, or is this a relatively new
phenomenon?  And, either way, why on earth would anyone, even
Snape, want the position?  Perhaps he thinks he's immune to all
of the bad things that have happened to DADA teachers in the
last four years.

Stacy, who loved Ron's (?) ticking off of the fates of the DADA
teachers early in OOP.
