I agree -- in fact, I think a few things very specifically set Ginny
up and further distanced Hermione int he running. First, the whole
Quidditch thing, as contrasted to Hermione's "Why do boys care so
much about Quidditch?" conversation. It sems flaky, but when there is
one thing that gives you a lot of pleasure, especially in a life as
tumultuous as Harry's, you aren't likely to want to end up with
someone who openly scorns that pastime. It isn't like Hermione is
neutral, she really thinks it's a huge waste of time to talk about
it. Ginny's athletic side would be really appealing to Harry.
Second, Ginny's experience with Harry in the CoS... She is the only
person Harry knows who has been in even nearly as dark a situation as
he as, who has known the self-doubt and horror of wondering what is
wrong with him or herself...
Also, Harry has a tendency towards the overly serious --
understandably. Ginny's sparkling sense of humor is a much better
match (especially as it *is* tempered by a deep interior) for Harry
than Hermione, whom I love but is way too serious for Harry.
