The book says he remembered Ron's making things up and he decided to make it 
up, and the first thing that came to his mind was Buckbeak.  But this is one 
of those times when he, and we, have to wonder, was he really making it up, 
or did he have a vision of some kind that he THOUGHT he made up???  I think 
he actually did have a vision, but thought it was just an idea he had -- 
whatever the case, it came true, while most of his other "made up" 
predictions (his beheading, etc.) didn't.
