I will never understand why Hermione chose to say what she
did, if she truly wasn't partially mad at Ron for being so
thick and not admitting to himself or others why he really
was acting this way (and *wanting* him to ask her next
time).

Honestly, there are dozens of other things she could have
said, that didn't involve telling Ron to ask her first next
time.

If she didn't like him, that's just about the *last* thing
she should have said.
