Well of course he wasn't wanted for questioning by the *Muggle* authorities. 

Do you honestly think that you can let off three AKs in a Muggle villiage and 
the MoM won't get involved? That the ww thinks that killing Muggles by means 
of Dark (Unforgivable!) curses does not constitute a *crime*? That somebody 
having wiped out a family of the same name as the previous term's Head Boy -- 
who were his closest blood relatives it seems, even if he did not live with 
them -- will not at least have the MoM wanting to *talk* to him? Who CARES 
what the villagers think? Tom Riddle didn't disapear for their sake. He was 
hiding from the *wizarding* authorities.
