  Oh no, they had a seeker all right, just not a very talented one.
  I'd go so far as to say they have reserves for the positions, but 
  they are just not considered important enough to mention 
  specifically. Though it wouldn't have hurt JKR to tell us who
  *did* 
  play in Harry's place. (sigh)
