How do you know that Quirrell!Voldemort wouldn't have figured out the
enchantment and been able to reverse it? He was after all (according
to Dumbledore who CAST the enchantment) "One of the most brilliant
students Hogwarts has ever seen"
AND I've always wondered if the answer to getting it by cheating
wasn't already stated in the chapter. Quirrell wonders if he should
break the mirror. How do we know the stone wouldn't have come
tumbling out if the mirror was broken?
So, Harry might've saved the stone just in time!
