I tend to agree with bboy_mn.  Hermione knew she needed to be at the 
entrance hall for 2 reasons IMHO:

1)  Madame Pomfrey would have freaked if HH showed up in the 
Infirmary at 9 PM out of thin air, not only because the students 
weren't to be seen, but because she has a tendency to go a bit 
overboard at times.  She probably would have strapped them down to a 
bed thinking they needed some sort of tonic and the chance for them 
to help would be out the window.

2)  I don't know how long it takes to get from the Infirmary to 
outside the front of the castle, but if they had to go a long way 
without being seen, it would be difficult to sneak around, in my 
opinion.
