Innermurk,
Harry does not actually see the fly that time, but he does when he is 
practicing his summoning charms.  Was this actually because his charm 
worked?  Or was it because the "fly" wanted him to believe that it 
worked?
It seems awfully suspicious that the "fly" has been around a few 
times.  Yes, it could have been just a fly, or even completely 
different flies,but we know that JKR does not just write things.  
It could be one of her famous red herrings, but I chose not to 
believe this one could be.
