The problem is that I do not believe that her sacrifice is the thing that
saved Harry at all. It is never stated in cannon that this is what saved
him. In PS/SS (sorry I don't have the books with me so I can't say which
page) Dumbledore simply says that
Quirell/Voldemort couldn't touch Harry because of the protection given by
Lily, not that this is what kept him alive as a baby.
I've been thinking that too, and I JUST reread PS/SS (actually, I read SS),
so I can confirm that there isn't any reference that he deflected the Avada
Kedavra curse because of his mother's love, just Volemort's touch.
I also just returned from a business trip, so if this has been said by
someone else since May 18, I haven't read to that e-mail yet!
