I have read Porphyria's post and this one here, and here's my take on it at
the moment. He paled because he was afraid. He has known this moment has
been coming for over a decade, and he and Dumbledore have been preparing for
it. But, whatever the task is, I'm sure it is dangerous and has something
to do with his past associations. I don't think he relishes doing the task
D asks him to do. But he is willing to do it. He is willing to persevere
and do whatever needs to be done to achieve his goal, presumably aiding in
the downfall of Voldemort. I see this more as the source of the glittering
in his eyes this time: the resolve and the will to see things through until
the end, whatever the end may be.
