Far be it from me to cast doubt on Snape's vampire connection, 
but Dumbledore's field is alchemy. Maybe using blood in 
alchemy is allowable,  but using it in potions, which are meant to 
be ingested or absorbed into the bodies of living beings,  isn't. 
JKR did mention that one of the uses of dragons' blood is oven 
cleaner.
