In all fairness, vampires are fundamentally different creatures than
animagi, so if Snape turns out to be one it wouldn't be the same old
'unregistered animagus' gimmick once again. I do hope we get to see a
vampire eventually since there have been so many mentions of them in the
books, but I'm not particularly fond of the notion that Snape is one. I
don't feel a compelling need to ever see a new animagus in the series
though.
Other than that, I think your post is spot on.
