One thing I don't think has been suggested so far as a reason for Malfoy
spite toward the Weasleys:
What if Lucius and Narcissa wanted more children, but couldn't have them for
whatever reason?
That could explain Lucius' attitude toward the Weasleys..."here I am, rich
as Croesus, and I'd _love_ to have a huge pureblood family, but I can't!
Meanwhile, here's this redheaded loser with his dumpy wife, and they're
banging out kids like it's about to go out of style. It's not fair!"
And Draco hears some of Daddy's comments, and remembers them...and spouts
out with them at the Worst Possible Moment.
