You're quite right, Geoff - it's in GoF, where Parvati asks her 
Ravenclaw sister, Padma, to go to the Yule Ball with Ron. And - I
can't put my finger on it - there's actually a discussion on it, 
probably in the same novel, where Hermione says siblings don't 
necessarily end up in the same house, and cites the Patil sisters as 
an example. The impression I got, too, even in PS, was that younger 
siblings weren't sure where they were going to end up, but hoped 
they'd be in the same one.
