You're probably right, since JKR seldom drops names casually. Ogg
doesn't sound like a wizard's name to me. Maybe he was another
half-blood of some sort. It sounds about as human as Grawp. But I'm
just guessing, and was actually more concerned with Mrs. Weasley's age
than with Grawp himself. (Oops! Ogg, I mean.) I don't see how she
could have been to school before Hagrid's time, and I'm not sure that
the apprentice explanation fully solves that problem.
