Geoff:
The most recent discussion about Hogwarts being in Scotland were a
dozen or so messages numbered between 83906 and 84024 which discussed
this is some depth. Using a search parameter of "Hogwarts Scotland"
in the Archive will probsably throw up somne of the others which have
occurred.
I realise as an ex-teacher in the UK that public schools normally
admit at 13, as do a lot of the secondary state schools nowadays.
However, as you say, Scottish education is a law unto itself; their
examination system is certainly different and I'm not familiar with
much of their set up. I wonder whether some of the public schools up
there admit at a lower age?
