The most recent discussion about Hogwarts being in Scotland were a 
dozen or so messages numbered between 83906 and 84024 which discussed 
this is some depth. Using a search parameter of "Hogwarts Scotland" 
in the Archive will probsably throw up somne of the others which have 
occurred.

I realise as an ex-teacher in the UK that public schools normally 
admit at 13, as do a lot of the secondary state schools nowadays. 
However, as you say, Scottish education is a law unto itself; their 
examination system is certainly different and I'm not familiar with 
much of their set up. I wonder whether some of the public schools up 
there admit at a lower age?
