It looks like more than one person has commented in this post but I
could not tell who wrote what and snipped what.

Didn't we have Simultaneous English speaking worldwide publication
for book 5?
There is no way the readers would refuse to buy any of the books in
the series even if Harry dies. The trouble would be keeping it a
secret. As soon as the news breaks it will be all over the press.
To give credit to the fans though, not one person I know gave away
the secret of who dies in Book 4 back in 2000 or in book 5 this
year. I believe we all love the sags so much that we willingly keep
the secret so as not to spoil for the rest.
The press is a very different matter. Book 5's death was all over the
internet and the New York news papers. (I refused to log on or pick
up a paper until I finished the book.) I believe a paper in Canada
actually printed an obituary and published it on Sat morning. Talk
about spilling the beans.
Not much we can do about it though.
