Why wouldn't James be in Gryffindor? Has anyone else caught on that 
he and Lily lived in Godric's Hollow, as in Godric Gryffindor? And that 
their son pulled the Sword of Gryffindor from the Sorting Hat? It's a topic of 
serious consideration that James was Gryffindor's heir, making Harry the 
heir. Which is why LV wanted James dead and not Lily, she was of no consequence. 
Slytherin wanted Gryffindor dead and that also explains why Harry was chosen  
over Neville, because Neville wasn't special, he was nearly a Squib.
