Yes, I've heard this before, but how do you suppose Petunia new 
Snape?  James hated him, so I don't think he would have had him over 
to meet the girlfriend's family.  And even if Lily was friendly with 
Snape would he, who clearly hates mudbloods, have taken time to meet 
her muggle family?
I'm interested in the rest of your theory.
