Perhaps it was buried at that particular point in time because he was with
Snape. I guess one could reasonably assume that Snape would know *why*
hermione was err, furry and then would be able to deduce exactly who *did*
steal his boomslang skin. I imagine he would not be very nice (less nice
than usual, even!) to the person responsible for the stealing. Since Harry
is friends with Hermione, it would be another thing he really *could* blame
Harry for, since he would presume Harry knew about the thievery.
Just a thought...
