It's a lovely thought. Think how all the girls would have swooned 
every time he walked into the classroom. 

But unfortunately I think Sirius would have made a terrible if 
extremely popular teacher, being rather on the reckless and anti-
authoritarian side himself. 

I'm just trying to imagine how some of Professor "It's the risk that 
makes it fun" Black's lesson's might have turned out... (there's a 
fanfic in that for someone)

Also, could you see him having a lot of patience with the Neville 
Longbottoms of this world?
