Tcy, again:
I doubt seriously that JKR had been influenced in the least by this 
movie.  It was released in 1986 in the US - and if they were lucky, 
not at all in the UK <g>.  And it seems like an odd source for the 
name of the title character (but what do I really know?).  I do agree 
that JKR has used bits from many sources and has been influenced by 
all sorts of mediums in creating the Potterverse.  It's one of the 
reasons I love the series so much.  There is so much in it that is 
familiar to me - that I can relate to.
