There our paths must diverge. I took her answer to be (deliberately) 
vague. You must also keep in mind what the question was:

"Is there a link between Snape and vampires?"

And, MUCH more importantly, what it was *not*:

"Is Snape a vampire?"
 
To which the reply "Erm... I don't think so." can truthfully 
encompass a host of possibilities.

If the question had been if Snape is a vampire, then the answer 
would have less wiggle room, but it wasn't.
