What I meant by my question was: Why do you (and other HPfGUers)
suppose he is hesitant (or worse, adamant not) to reach out for that 
counsel?

In a sense, his impetuousness blinded him and because he didn't stop 
to remember the 2-way mirror, it might be said he contributed to 
Sirius' death.
