I agree with you, Meri, and Dumbledore himself has attested to the
fact that Harry is being watched even more closley than he (Harry)
has ever realized. I often wonder how.
We all know that Dumbledore can become invisible without need of a
cloak, but we also know that he is a very very busy man and cannot be
in two places at once. He is at Hogwarts when Harry is about to run
away from Grimmauld house (over Xmas) but he knows the minute Harry
starts packing his trunk. Phineus could have been spying for him, of
course, but still, he wouldn't know that there was something really
wrong...
In fact, it seems that Dumbledore knows just about everything that
goes on in Harry's life, but is always convieniantly looking the
other way when something big comes up, so that Harry can get it
sorted. Why why why? argh! and How...
