Can memories be lifted from newly dead people?

I have also wondered about this....like the case of Cedric 
Diggory...if they could have retrieved his memory, they would have 
known, instantly, that Harry was telling the truth about Voltemort 
returning to human form. This would have "squashed" Fudge into a 
babbling idiot sooner!

In the case of Quirrel, I think his memory would clearly show that he 
was an unwilling victim. Doesn't Voltemort brag about "using him" at 
one point? Another interesting question....if you removed memories 
from Quirrel, would they also include Voltemort's, (since they shared 
the same head?)
