Durmstrang is probably a pun to both "Sturm und Drang"
and "Sturmdrang". Both words are from the German language.

Sturm und Drang is a period from the German literature. "The Sturm
und Drang" phase was around 1760-1790. One of the most famous writers
of this time was Goethe. The main character in "Sturm und Drang"
literature was often a dark and broading type like Viktor Krum.

Sturmdrang was a term from the "Third Reich". It, to generalize it,
means to attack the "enemies" and defeat them as soon as possible.
This fits of course with the ambigous Durmstrang and the fact, that
they learn the Dark Arts, there.
