Mugglenet's Josh Smith wrote an article entitled "The Mystery That Is 
Mark Evans". I'm sure that all of you noticed the 10-year-old kid 
Dudley beat up named Mark Evans, and that Lily's maiden name is also 
Evans. The article starts out by saying that although Harry had to 
stay with the Dursleys because they were his "last living relatives", 
Mark Evans was not alive when he went to live with them. It goes on 
to speculate about Mark's parentage. Since Lily was not alive at the 
time of his birth, she could not have been his mother. The next 
person considered was the other Evans we know, Petunia. This was 
disregarded because (quote):

>A) She obviously didn't have him with Vernon, or he'd be living 
>with them. 
>B) Petunia doesn't seem like the type of person to cheat on her 
>husband...and if she did, how would she hide a pregnancy from him?
>C) On that same token, she couldn't have had him before she met 
>Vernon, because he'd be older than Harry and Dudley, which he 
>isn't.

The next possibility discussed is that Mark's father is Severus 
Snape. REASONS:
- Severus Snape is an anagram for Perseus Evans.
- In the Pensieve memory, (quote from article) "Lily Evans rushes to 
his defense. She seems stunned when he calls her a mudblood. Not 
angry so much, but taken aback. Could this be because they are 
related, and she knows for a fact that Snape himself is a mudblood?"
- (quote) "Is it at all possible that Snape changed his name going 
into school to distance himself with the Evans family and feign being 
a pure-blood so he could be in Slytherin?"
- (quote) "Snape is around 35, which would mean if he had a child at 
25 years old, the child would be 10...like Mark Evans."
- (quote) "JKR said that students aren't privy to information 
concerning teachers and their spouses, so it's also possible that 
Snape is married."

The article concludes by saying that Mark Evans will probably enter 
Hogwarts next year, at which point we will all learn all about him.

I at least agree with the fact that Mark Evans will enter Hogwarts 
next year, as JKR wouldn't introduce him at age 10 for no reason. I 
also believe that he is somehow related to Harry because she 
DEFINITELY wouldn't double that last name for no reason. However, I 
think the fact that Snape was his father and changed his name is a 
bit far-fetched. However, I would like to hear thoughts from any fans 
who agree with this theory. And although I don't entirely agree with 
it, I felt I should post it anyway because I wanted to cite it in one 
of my previous posts, about Snape possibly being in Gryffindor, and 
had in mind an acronym for it.

It is with the above thoughts that I propose acronym S.E.V.E.R.U.S. 
S.N.A.P.E.: Severus Easily Very Evans-Related, Undoubtably Since 
Snape's Name is an Acronym for Perseus Evans.
