Carol responds:
I'm betting you already know what I think on this one.
First let me
admit that I agree with Kneasy on one point, that
Dumbledore could not
have successfully AK'd Voldemort. Also DD quite
definitely wants LV to
think that he (DD) didn't try to kill him because of
his principles,
and because he believes that a fate worse than death
awaits LV.

Mo:

My topic is going to branch a little.... sorry.

I agree that DD might not have been able to do AK. As
Bellatrice said to Harry when he tried to Crucio her,
you have to want to hurt and cause another person
pain. Basically, the only wizards who can perform the
unforgivables Crucio and AK have to be pretty hateful.

Now, as for DD murduring LV, AK isn't the ONLY way to
kill a wizard. I think of AK as sort of 3rd degree
murder. It is plotted and the attacker is well aware
of what he/she is doing and their FULL intent is to
kill that person.
I think that there are other means to kill a person
out there, such as Wormtail did to those Muggles, or
like that DE, who's mouth was shut, tried to do to
Hermione, or even several people shouting stunning
spells. I think those spells don't need full intent,
like AK does. And, it is possible to fix or reverse
some of the spell damage (i.e. Hermione survived with
proper treatment.) But, they have the POTENTIAL to
kill someone.
