SB here:

When considering all the times Harry narrowly escaped Voldemort's
attacks (and Voldemort barely escaped too), the prophecy came to
mind. It said basically that the dark lord had to kill the child, or
the child kill the dark lord. However, Harry rebounding a Killing
Curse, destroying Voldemort's parasitic host, or killing the dark
lord's memory all have failed to vanquish Voldemort. And, vice
versa, all Voltemort's attacks have resulted in not killing Harry.

Voldemort only knows part of the prophecy, and when he learned that
part he went for Harry. Dumbledore states that it could have also
been talking about Neville.

Is Voldemort trying to kill the wrong child born at the end of July,
whose parents 3 times denied him? Could Neville be the one the
prophecy was talking about? Does Neville have to kill the Dark Lord?
