I missed that one. Where was it? And parts of Snape's history have to
be well known, since he doesn't hesitate to show Fudge his Dark Mark.

Since Neville appears to save the wrappers, I'm sure he looks at them;
and it looks true that they, sadly, were actually driven mad by their
torture.

That happened sometimes in PS/SS, but I don't remember Harry doing it;
it seemed tht some of JKR's notions of magic matured at that time. I
always thought that magic without a wand was like a projector without
a lens or a gun without a barrel.
