Potioncat:
I thought Mandrake root had quite a few uses.  And would be part of 
the normal course of study.  (Of course, from a literary standpoint, 
that she introduced them in the beginning of the story was nice.)

Wouldn't it have been more prudent to lay in a store of prepared 
mandrake root?
