Potioncat wondered:
I'm looking for the discussion about whether Lupin's

Ginger (with canon!):

I don't know if it's been discussed here, but Lupin answers the
question himself in the Shrieking Shack: (PoA p.346 US paperback)

Lupin has just been outed by Hermione, and asks how she knew he was a
werewolf.

"Did you check the lunar charts and realize that I was always ill at
the full moon? Or did you realize that the boggart changed into the
moon when it saw me?"

So there we have it, but on this list- who knows, maybe it has been
discussed that Lupin is not really a werewolf, but rather, a
mooncalf. (FB p.28) A shy creature which only emerges at the full
moon and dances and leaves silvery dung that is really good
fertalizer. He never really transformed, he just went out dancing.
The boggart was a red herring, and was really a disco ball. He faked
the one transformation with a potion just to scare Snape, which is
why he was never reprimanded, and faked the other in PoA so that no
one would know that he was the Fred Astaire of the WW. Just keeping
his cover.

Ginger, realizing that she has tripped dangerously close to ESE!Lupin
territory by implying that he helped PP escape that night, and is now
making a hasty retreat.
