Though I've gotten a bit behind reading posts, I've searched the
archives for a reply and didn't find one, so assuming I didn't just
overlook one, here goes:

I found another transcript of this chat at www.hogwarts-library.net .
Clicking on "Reference" and then scrolling down and clicking on
"Interviews" will bring up quite a few, including the two Barnes and
Noble chats. On this site they include the question writers' names,
and I found something interesting!

-----------------------------------
Icicle from United States Question 18:

You have such a phenomenal imagination! Is it a result of a very
imaginative childhood?

J.K. Rowling:

First of all, I will be using your name in a future book. To answer
your question, yes, I lived a lot in a fantasy world when I was
younger and spent a lot of time daydreaming — to my parents frustration.
--------------------------------------

So JKR made a joking reference to using Icicle's name, I assume just
because she was flattered by Icicle's comment. Then, in a B & N chat
from 2000 (by searching in Quick Quotes on TLC), we find:

----------------------------------------
Q: Is there really a new character named Icicle in your next book?

JKR: Where are you people getting this stuff?! No, nobody called
icicle, I promise.
------------------------------------------

I'd never read these two together before, so I'd never made the
connection (not that this isn't old news to some of you all, I'm sure)!
