I found it hard to believe too, but though normally babies need 
physical contact in order to thrive, it's been observed that some 
infants actually do reject cuddling, and will stiffen, rear back and 
look away. 

Cuddly baby!Harry who coos when he's held is movie 
contamination; he was sound asleep when Hagrid held him and 
kissed him in the books.
