Jason here,
If she didn't know before Harry's interview in teh quibbler, it sure
seems she knew afterwards. American V seen and unforseen..
"The teachers were, of course, forbidden from mentioning the
interview by educational decree number 26, but they found ways to
express their feelings about it all the same. Professor Sprout
awarded Gryffindor twenty points when Harry passed her a watering
can; a beaming Profesor Flitwick pressed a box of squeaking sugar
mice on him at the end of Charms, said 'Shh!' and hurried away; and
Professor Trelawney broke into hysterical sobs during Divination and
announced to the startled class, and a very disapproving Umbridge,
that Harry was *not* going to suffer and early death after all, but
wouyld live to a ripe old age become minister of Magic, and have
twelve children."
Definately implies to me that she caught wind of that current event
even if she doesnt usually keep her ear to the ground.
As to whether or not she knew who Harry was, I always thought her
death predictions were so abundant *because* she knew his past and
assumed he'd bite the dust eventually anyway. Maybe it always seems
a safer than usual prediction.
I always thought (since PoA) that DD kept Trelawney on at Hogwarts
to keep both her and Harry safe. Even if she can't remember her REAL
predictions, it would seem to me that Voldy could somehow get to
those thoughts and get the wording out of her.
Just a side note about her "mid-winter" birthday comment and somehow
Neville being The One...
It all seems like a good theory except that the books are named
after Harry. Id be sort of upset if, at the end, Neville is the hero
and Harry was just a pawn and a cover up to keep Neville safe. Im
agreeing with whoever it was that said Neville will take care of
Bellatrix allowing Harry to get to Voldy. In that scene, each would
face teh one who destroyed their parents.
Jason (sorry if that was long)
