I'm jumping in here, although I haven't been able to keep up in about a
week, so apologies if this has been covered.
I don't think a child can owe a life debt to an adult. Children, by virtue
of being children, often do stupid, reckless things. And we adults protect
them. We do it because we're the adult. I once pulled a toddler out of a
pool when I heard her mother screaming. Does that baby owe me anything?
Nope--she was being a toddler. Since the WW imitates the RR, I assume the
same child-adult relationships exist, where the adults are *supposed* to
protect the kids.
That said, I also think only LV can kill Harry, in which case Lupin's
actions, though perhaps heroic, wouldn't equate a life debt. When Harry
fell off his broom in POA, DD slowed down his fall. Did he save Harry, or
merely prevent greater injuries? Since I don't think Harry would have died,
I also don't think he owes DD a life debt.
