As much as I'd love for Sirius to be alive or to come back in ghost
form and taunt Snivilus, my head tells me he's gone. Sorry. The
Order members seem to know his fate, as well as DD. And Nearly-
Headless Nick pretty much discounted Harry's hope of Sirius coming
back as a ghost.

However, I do not think we have heard the last from Sirius. Remember
Luna Lovegood's remarks about her mother dying. She said that it is
not as if she would never talk to her again, and then referrenced the
room in the MoM with the curtain from behind which both her and Harry
heard voices. I think that curtain-room is the key for Harry to
contact Sirius again. Luna might be weird, but she's been right
before about death related stuff (tharsals).
