StrongBad comments:
Sherri, I totally agree. It seems that some fans want Harry to see
exactly what happens in every scene, and if that doesn't happen, then
Harry has got the description of the events wrong. Speculation is
great... but come on.
JKR herself has said Lupin is her favorite character. She sets him
up to be a great mentor, friend, and protector of Harry - even if he
is a bit troubled. She does this very well and deliberately. And
now some fans completely discount this effort of JKR because Harry
did not see exactly from whom the curse came, in the fight in the
MoM, that killed Sirius.
She left room for speculation in every book. And if fans want to
speculate that Lupin is a turn-coat, evil werewolf... great. Not
me. I think he's supposed to be a troubled good guy, as most of them
are (Hagrid, Moody, Sirius, Mundungus, even Harry).
Personally, I'd like to speculate about Snape... good, bad, double
agent, dying to saving Harry, etc. Much more meat here.
StrongBad (hoping and praying the Lupin haters don't seek me out and
turn me into a werewolf)
