I weighed in on this issue with what I thought was a perfectly logical
explanation for the sequence of events that lead to and justified the
use of the Imperius Curse in the classroom. Unfortunately, it got zero
response. I was at least hoping for an argument or two.

I agree with the part about Dark Magic being corrosive to the soul nad
destructive to a person's humanity, but I took it one step farther, I
suggested that it is also destructive in it's creation. That is, Dark
Magic is in some way distructive to the extrenal magical and physical
world in it's creation. Perhaps consuming things that the Dark Wizard
has no right to consume.

Example, Blood, Flesh, and Bones Spell. In addition, I'm very sure
that only Dark Magic requires the sacrific of virgins. 

Just a few thoughts.
