That's a relief. Glad that any misconceptions can be swept away.
And if I seemed a bit prickly it's because I tend to adopt a Rottweiler
stance whenever I get the impression that others wish to 'guide' my
thinking into 'acceptable' channels. Happy that was not the case.
But in the dark watches of the night, I've been thinking further on
the antics and imagination of posters on the site. Individual theories
of varying likelihood pour out of the woodwork to be discussed,
dismissed or accepted as the whims of the membership dictate. If
one seems to be highly probable then further theories may be offered
based on the conclusions of the first. By the time the finale of HP is
published it may be possible to jig-saw together those ideas that never
appear in JKR's world to construct a whole other Potterverse, logical
within itself but diverging from true canon; a fan fiction by mass
participation, largely formulated by misconceived and down-right
mischevious theories - an accidental and unintended alternative.
Evolution in action. Or maybe Chaos Theory - a butterfly flapping it's
wings in CoS (theories about Ginny's possession, say) may result in a
hurricane (Bella as Voldy's avatar and the consequences thereof) five
books later.
Unfortunately, the make-up of the fan base on site would make any
consensus well-nigh impossible. Pity. It might be interesting to read
the Apocrypha of the Potterverse.
