Del :
Knowing JKR as we know her, I wouldn't take that as an affirmation
that Harry will live. Even if she decided long ago that Harry was
going to die, she can still pretend she's not sure about it. It's
called keeping a secret, and tons of people do it every day. Just
like when I answer "yeah, maybe someday" when people ask me if I'm
going to have a second child : yes I am (well I intend to anyway),
but I don't want people to ask me every other day if I'm pregnant
again yet !

Moreover, if you want to be truly nitpicky, you'll notice there's a
problem in this sentence : "I'll never say never because every time
I do I immediately break the vow!" : if she answered that she's
never going to write about Harry after school, then she would have
to break the vow immediately, and that would mean she would have to
start writing about Harry after school *right now* ! Which is NOT
what we want, is it :-) ? Well, not *yet*.

Del, who thinks JKR has made it quite clear that she won't say
whether Harry will live or not before book 7 comes out. She knows
it's the biggest question on her readers' mind, why would she answer
it ?
