I (respectfully!) don't see the trio being
permitted the use of the Penseive either. Their interactions are
their key to finding links and patterns! It would be a diminishment
of the story line to give them such a convenient tool for memory
mixing (what memories do they have/share that could be combined to
such a purpose anyway?).

I wasn't trying to imply that book 6 was just going to be a big
flashback scene of books 1-5. I want the trio to interact as well. I
do think however, that at least one of the trio will go over at least
one memory and discover something they did not notice during the
actual event.

For example:
Some posters believe that Lupin killed Sirius at the MoM. I don't
believe this, but lets say that Lupin did cast the fatal spell that
pushed Sirius into the veil. If Harry goes over this scene, using the
penseive, he will be able to see what he did not see the first time
around.

I've often wished that I could step out of myself during situations I
know I didn't handle well. I think that Harry should go over the
memories he has of Snape. He may be able to notice something he
couldn't while he was seething with anger.

I think there are a lot of links and patterns the trio can pick up
on -- in and out of the penseive.
