I think, in one form or another, we would all love to give Harry a
chance to talk to Sirius again. For that matter, we would all like a
chance to talk to our lost loved ones one last time. But life doesn't
work that way.

We must ask why would their be a protrait of someone so young as
Sirius, especially considering that he spend a substantial portion of
his life in prison, and a substantial portion before that estranged
from his family.

Portraits seem to either represent historical events, or they are
created to honor people who have lived long and distinguished
themselves in some way. In a sense, the portraits become a memorial to
someone who has lived a long life. I don't see how Sirius would fit
into any of those catagories, and can't think of any logical reason
why there would be a portrait of him.

It's not likely his parent would have had it commissioned since he and
his parent we at odd with each other. He has achieved no great
accompliment that would warrant a painting. He was too young to have
lived a long and distinquished life. While he did have a bit of an
ego, it and he did not seem the type to have his own painting created.

More importantly, if there is a portrait, it is going to be of a very
young Sirius who lacks the maturity and wisdom that Harry is seeking.
So, in the very very unlikely chance thay Harry stumbles across a
portrait of Sirius, it is doomed to being a very unsatisfiying experience.

Just a few thoughts.
