trio, but they went of in the dead of night, from their dormitory,
covered by the invisibility cloak. If Snape was anywhere around,
patrolling, he would have assumed that the trio was in their beds as
well as Quirrell. Snape has no legitimate right to enter Gryffindor
tower, nor Quirrell's private quarters. But then again, he may have
tried to alert DD, who later said (paraphrasing from memory): 'When I
arrived at the MoM, I found that I should be at Hogwarts'. Urgent
message waiting for him?
Carol:
I think you're probably right. He couldn't have tried to go after
Quirrell (or save HRH if he knew they were in danger) by himself
because he didn't know how to get past Fluffy. He could, however, have
sent for Dumbledore and have been present with Dumbledore when Harry
was rescued. Harry wouldn't know about it because he was unconscious
and doesn't remember anything about his rescue except hearing a voice
or voices. One of them could have been Snape's. Just speculating here
and providing a reason why he didn't go after Quirrell himself.
