> If you're right, and if Dumbledore knows about Snape's
boggart, it's insensitive if not downright cruel of him to use
"Cockroach clusters" as a password, especially since Snape
probably reports to him frequently. It would be like having
"Dementor" as a password when he knew that Harry would be
coming to see him.<

But Harry would probably regard "chocolate-covered Dementor"
as a fine joke. In fact when he encounters a boggart-Dementor
during the third task, it trips over its robes even before Harry has
consciously realized what it is.

Dumbledore seems to be in a campaign to desensitize
Snape--doing things like offering him the vulture hat and then
happily wearing it himself. Which gives me a thought--sorry if this
came up in the thread already--suppose Snape is one of those
people who can't handle a boggart, and Lupin knows it?

Did Lupin ask Snape to meet him in the staffroom knowing the
Boggart was there? That would put an entirely different light on
things, wouldn't it.

That would account for Snape saying he'd rather not witness
this. When Lupin led the class of Gryffindors in, Snape realized
he'd been set up--no wonder he got a nasty look in his eye. He
shouldn't have taken it out on Neville of course.
